A LETTER TO ALL OF YOU by Martha Byoga

Dear You,

I have had it up to here with your luck of thoughtfulness. No, I do not need a ride home from your house at 2 am, I like to test those metal rod robbers and rapists. I mean with all these curves you’d need some serious breaks and those rascals can’t even afford proper assault weapons so I guess we know who they’ll be crashing into at that time of the night.

Dear you,
You’ve got a lot of truth taking a nap in your silence. Well I may be deaf but that noise they’re calling silence is making my sign language seem to loud that the only communication I know now is your sincere silence. I don’t know who lied to you but it doesn’t talk, so your silence will not speak volumes about anything. Speak only truth or I’ll forever remain clueless.

Dear you,
I do love you; but the kind of friendzone you’re in, life support wouldn’t even give you hope of getting out of. Let me give you a scenario; you remember that time we couldn’t decide on dessert, all we had was caramel but you wanted to know what chocolate tasted like, so night after night you left caramel in the refrigerator and went out and had chocolate after chocolate, until one day you realized someone had taken the caramel and it was no longer sitting in the cold waiting for you, then you decided you wanted it? Yea, that’s what happened.

Dear you,
There’s only one world and it happens to be round, running will only bring you round back to me. So what if you fell in love with me? There is no such thing as a friendship too great that you’d ruin with love and affection. The only thing that holds up the friendship in the first place is love; this would not be this great if you didn’t love me at all. So knock yourself out, love away.

Dear you,
If I ever have to hear you put the words ‘what’ and ‘if’ together again; you can’t even sing ‘maybe’ cause that’s a vicious little word that can slay us both. If I hear you even as much as think of all the shoulda coulda wouldas… I will slap you so hard out of your someday world.
Now, will all of YOU excuse me while I go make myself beautiful for my next beautiful mistake

Yours, was never faithful anyway,
Maritza
