Life is once by Poetess Viona Wamunyu

On that inevitable day of my demise
When I finally summarize
My one gift of life in this complex
Beautiful earth,
Will I have a smile curl on my face
Symbolizing fulfillment,
A content soul who has known it all?

Or shall I have but a sigh in my heart,
Of a life full of ‘what ifs’,
Regrets of what has now past
And how maybe it would’ve been
Had I taken the plunge.

Death is a must,
Marking time past,
And it approaches fast.
In a flash, I’m part of the past.
So this being the day in my life
When I’m hit with such a realization,
I embark on a new path,
Putting my best feet forward
To live a life that come that day
When God and I finally meet,
I’ll say a BIG THANKS!
