The Other by Poetess Viona Wamuyu

Another’s shoes,
The ones that seem to fit just right,
The one that makes the grass look greener
On that other side.
Them whose life seems much easier,
And everything runs just smoothly.
Another’s shoes,
Who seem to be ever smiling,
Ever in a thrill,
Always and forever,
Almost unfairly happy!

At times I long for another’s shoes,
That seem much more comfier,
That fit well, perfect,
That don’t hurt, or stink.
At times I want another’s shoes,
Another’s ever bright world
One with no fears, tears, pain,
That just seems to flow, just flow!

Those other person’s ever perfect shoes,
Those very affordable shoes,
They do not exist!
For in that other person’s world,
Who seems to have it all figured out,
In that smile that is always warm and welcoming,
Behind the walls of the house on the other side of the fence,
Tears of pain fall in streams too.

None’s life is perfect
And though the grass on that other side
Always seems greener.
Though the other person’s shoes
Seem to fit just perfect,
Reality is, it isn’t so.
All our lives have defects,
Riddled with trouble and challenges,
Difference is all in how we choose to live
For to the same two people
Life on earth can be Heaven or Hell.
